Bunion (Hallux Valgus)

Hallux Valgus is the name given to the deformity that is seen in the majority of women and in which the splayed bone in the first toe protrudes outward when the great-toe turns inward.

This deformity can cause difficulty in wearing shoes and various pain and limitation of movement in the great toes in the shoes .

When your great toe has a protruding bump at the base on the inside of the foot, it is known as a bunion (hallux valgus). Your great toe will shift toward the other toes as a result of a change in foot alignment.

When your great toe rubs against your second toe or when the bump presses on your shoe, it may hurt. Additionally, a misaligned great toe can occasionally cause pain in the ball of the foot.

Treatments

Treatment in Hallux Valgus is evaluated in two stages.

First; taking various precautions for the resolution of complaints in patients

Secondly; Correction of deformity with surgical treatment applied in patients.

Treatment of deformity in a person with Hallux Valgus is only possible with surgery.

To reduce Hallux Valgus pain:

  • Arranging the shape of shoes,
  • Insoles to be used to prevent pain,
  • Silicone apparatus can be used to protect the pressure pain in the shoes.

Minimally Invasive

In minimally invasive bunion surgery, the bone is sliced with a burr rather than a saw. Instead of the lengthy incisions that are frequently utilized in conventional procedures, this enables the cuts to be made “percutaneously,” or through small incisions made through the skin of the foot.
